Hey there…I’m looking for a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Wii, either to borrow or to buy for cheap. So if anyone knows where I can get one, please let me know.

Surface Coming to a Home Near You

Posted in Technology on October 16th, 2008 by Administrator

Microsoft Surface is basically a table with a touchscreen computer as the tabletop. Multiple users can use it at once, but at the moment it’s only available in commercial markets, such as casinos and hotels. Then the other day Microsoft introduced a survey about a multi-touch device codenamed “Oahu” which is designed for home use, including wireless sync for devices such as MP3 players and cameras. You can read more about it here, but the best part about it is the price listed in the survey as $1,499. Where do I sign up?

Digital Dorm Room

Microsoft is giving away some sweet Zune goodness (along with a ton of other stuff) to liven up your dorm room, or in my case, just your room, with their Microsoft Zune Digital Dorm Room Sweepstakes. The Grand Prize includes a 120GB Zune and various Xbox 360 and Dell products, plus a bunch of other extras. In order to win you have to be a student at an accredited 2 or 4 year school, 18 years or older, and you need a Zune Tag, like this. And no, you don’t have to have a Zune to make your Zune Tag (although you should buy one anyway). So go sign up, and remember the little people (me) when you win.

Common has a new album coming, Universal Mind Control, which should be out in December. Here is the first video, “Universal Mind Control,” featuring Pharrell and the Zune.

Zeitgeist

I was recently turned on to the documentaries Zeitgeist, The Movie, which was released in 2007, and its sequel, Zeitgeist: Addendum, which was only released last week. The first movie discusses modern religion, the control that the people in power really have over us, and who those people are and how they get it, such as with 9/11 (watch and you’ll understand). Addendum talks about the flaws of the American banking system that is in place, and also something called The Venus Project, which from what I understood is like a giant leap forward to create a new civilization. A lot of what is brought up in these movies could probably be taken with a grain of salt, but maybe not. There is a lot of compelling information put forth, and numbers and figures that would blow your mind. The claim is made that we have enough technology and resources, right now, to where we wouldn’t have to buy anything because we can make everything in abundance, therefore we wouldn’t need money, and wouldn’t need to work. Like I said, some things are pretty out there, and I don’t know what to believe, but everything you’ve ever learned is challenged in these movies.

They are both a little over two hours long, but I’m glad I took the time to watch them, if for nothing else than to get a perspective you don’t get everyday, or ever. Both are available at Zeitgeist – The Movie. They have a site that is supposed to be up any day now, The Zeitgeist Movement, that should shed more light on the info they have to share. Again, this stuff might way off, but I think they are worth the watch.

Top Chef: New York

New York. Probably overrated. Top Chef. Not so much. What do you get when you combine the two? A great show with a few people who more than likely think they are better than you. Oh well. On November 12, Top Chef: New York marks the return of my favorite cooking show. The only thing that could make this better is if I was a judge on the show, and Bobby Flay was there with me. Now that would be great television.

Wii HD

Posted in Technology, Video Games on October 1st, 2008 by Administrator

A new Wii? According to What They Play, such a thing could be a reality by 2011. The new Wii would have HD capabilities and more than likely a better storage solution than the current 512 MB flash memory. Nintendo’s Research & Development spending has increased ten-fold since 2003, and has more than tripled since the release of the Wii, indicating something big could be on the way. A little sooner on the horizon, a new Nintendo DS is said to be hitting the shelves later this year.

Update: The new DSi has been confirmed/announced by Nintendo.

Free Zune

Posted in Music, Technology on October 1st, 2008 by Administrator

The author at i am the diva is giving away a free 8 GB Zune. She reviewed one earlier this year, and got another one for doing so, but since she is a Mac user, she’s giving them away. All you have to do is visit her site and leave a comment telling her how awesome she is, which shouldn’t be too hard since she’s giving away a Zune. She’s going to draw randomly from the comments, and it ends Friday at midnight, Central Time. You can get another entry if you happen to have a blog and link to it, telling people about the contest (kind of like this post). So go comment, and good luck to all.
