Jordan Shattering Glass

Posted in Sports, Videos on September 28th, 2008 by Administrator

You’ve never seen this dunk before. I promise. I’m not really sure who he’s playing for or when this is from (possibly an exhibition for a Nike team overseas), but that’s pretty much inconsequential,  because Michael Jordan destroys the backboard, and doesn’t get touched by so much as a fragment of glass. The same can’t be said of the mortals he was playing against.

Wario Land: Shake It!

Posted in Video Games, Videos on September 27th, 2008 by Administrator

Now to lighten the mood. Wario Land: Shake It! is a new side-scrolling platformer (think Super Mario Bros.) for the Wii. I’m sure they game is fine and all, but this ad for the game is pretty sweet. More companies need to start doing some creative things like this, then maybe commercials wouldn’t be so dumb and boring.

Black Saturday

Posted in Sports on September 27th, 2008 by Administrator

I’m a huge Packers fans and have the utmost confidence in them week-in and week-out, but I don’t know if I’ll be watching them tomorrow. I’m not quite sure if I could handle watching them lose after today. First off, the Hurricanes blew their game against North Carolina, one of which they were in complete control until they self-destructed. Oh yeah, they had a chance to win at the end, but a receiver in the endzone was overthrown just enough to allow an interception as time expired. Then all things Wisconsin decided to go belly up. The Brewers were losing all day, which was bad enough, but then they made a comeback, and very easily, probably should have, took the lead or at least tied it in the 8th. But then the 9th rolled around and they let it slip away eve further. While that was happening, the Badgers, while playing pretty terribly, were suffocating Michigan, until the second half. That’s when they thought it would be fun to continue to play like they’d never seen a football before and let an overmatched Michigan team take the lead from them. Again, that would be painful enough, but then they had to march down the field, down eight points, score a touchdown and a two point, only to have an Ineligible Receiver Downfield to erase the two points, and have Evridge basically throw it through the back of the endzone. If only every day could be this awesome. Forgive me if I rambled a bit, but my mental state is in question at the moment.

[•REC]

Posted in Movies, Videos on September 24th, 2008 by Administrator

It’s almost October, and that means Halloween is near. And with Halloween comes the latest and greatest horror movies. Instead of talking about Saw V (October 24), I’m going with Quarantine this time around. I’m not going to go into too much detail, because here’s the trailer.

Now I know what you’re thinking; “If you’re talking about Quarantine, then what is [•REC]?” [•REC] is basically the Spanish version of Quarantine, and by that I mean Quarantine is a straight up American ripoff of it. I might like it better, because I just so happen to speak English, but I hope they don’t butcher it. If you have lots of free time like I do, you can watch the original movie online. Enjoy.

NerdyShirts

I officially became an old man yesterday, but today I discovered that I still like the things I did when I was young and spry. I made this revelation when I stumbled upon NerdyShirts. It has the obvious Nintendo sweetness, but I’m a fan of the Chuck E. Cheese shirt, and am a strong proponent of the McCain-MILF ‘08 campaign. I can’t lie to you, I would probably buy a good half of these shirts, but I’m not ready to succumb to a midlife crisis.

Amazon All Wii Gold Box

Posted in Video Games on September 19th, 2008 by Administrator

Today Amazon is having an All Wii Gold Box, meaning they are having sweet deals all day, specifically for the Wii. Deals show up at different times of the day, with the first one being Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 for only $19.97. The next one is in a little under two hours, so I’m hoping I’m out of class by then, and that it might actually be a game I’d want.

Dedication 3

Immediately after releasing Tha Carter III, Lil Wayne claimed to already be working on Tha Carter IV. Now he has announced he will indeed be releasing the much anticipated Dedication 3 with DJ Drama. The first two installments in the series are easily some of his best pieces of work, and this time he vows to feature his many Young Money artists. And true to previous Wayne, he will eventually offer it up for free.

Zune 3.0

Posted in Music, Technology on September 16th, 2008 by Administrator

The latest Zune software and firmware updates were released today. There are a ton of new features, such as the ability to buy songs straight from your Zune device (including ones you hear on the Zune radio), games (it comes preloaded with Hexic and Texas Hold’em), a clock, and MixView. MixView is part of the new recommendation features being rolled out. It’s got a nice look, and it’s functional. It shows other albums by the artist, related artists, and artists that influenced and were influenced by the artist in the MixView. It’s just one neat feature of many. The Social has been updated again as well. There are also now 120 GB and 16 GB devices to go along with the previous 4, 8, and 80 GB devices, and new colorways too. All in all, the Zune community just keeps getting better and better.

Swype – The Next Generation of Text

Posted in Technology, Videos on September 16th, 2008 by Administrator

From the creator of T9 comes Swype, some new kick-assery in the world of texting. Actually, it’s for any touchscreen device, but we only care about texting for now. With Swype, all you have to do is drag a line across your keyboard with minimal accuracy, and voila, your message magically appears. Hopefully this will be distributed to my next phone, because I shouldn’t have to think to text. Here’s Swype in action.
