Trades, Trades, Trades

Apparently it’s a popular thing to trade my favorite athletes these days. Ken Griffey Jr., pending league approval, has been traded to the Chicago White Sox for some people that don’t matter. Junior approved the trade, which allows him to go to a team who actually has a chance to go to the World Series and win, something he has never done. I’m happy for him, but I can’t say the same thing about the Packers/Brett Favre situation. I don’t know what’s going to happen there, but I can’t imagine it’s going to be pretty, because let’s face it, it’s been hideous up to this point. I hope both of these guys have great seasons from here on out; one with a new team, and one with an old.

Homework…it can wait.

I started doing some homework for a summer class I’m taking, and not too long into it, I realized it’s not due until tomorrow. So I stopped. I think I’ll go play some Mario Kart Wii.

Brewers Add Another Ace

On the heels of an 11-6 victory over the Pirates today and taking over the second spot in the NL Central over the Cardinals by percentage points, it looks like the Brewers and Indians have finalized the deal to send CC Sabathia to the Brewers. The Brewers had to give up top prospect Matt LaPorta, but not some of their other big prospects that had been mentioned. Hopefully this, combined with Ben Sheets and the hot bats on offense, will push the Brew Crew over the hump and they can finally get into the playoffs. He’s expected to make his first start for Milwaukee on Tuesday against the Rockies.

Favre on Favre

This isn’t really new, but it’s new to me, and that’s all that matters. Plus, you can’t really have too much Favre. In this video, Favre watches some of his more memorable mic’d up moments from his career and comments on them. The video includes the best Mike Holmgren reaction, “Make the switch.” Also, take note that Favre was once #10, proving that he is indeed the greatest.

WALL•E

I haven’t gone to the theater to watch a movie since the opening of Cloverfield, but I finally made it out again the other day, when I went to see the new Pixar movie, WALL•E. I have seen some of the other Pixar movies before, which I thought were good, and I had heard great things about this one, but I wasn’t sure what it was actually about and was just hoping that it wouldn’t be bad. I don’t want to say it was the best movie I’ve ever seen, because it probably wasn’t and it’s hard to put a label like that on something, but I think it’s fair to say that it was pretty damn good. It had just about everything someone could want in a movie; action, comedy, good story, which included a nice little love story, and as was pointed out to me, it had a great message to people of all ages. It is an animated movie, so people might think it’s for the kiddies, but it’s not. It’s a good flick for people of all ages. I’d say go out and see it, but if you can’t, don’t want to, or going to the movies isn’t really your thing, then I would definitely at least rent it when it comes out on DVD.
