Instant Replay

Posted in Sports on September 30th, 2006 by Administrator

After watching quite a few games today, I had a brilliant idea. Actually, I’ve thought of it before, and I’m not the first person to think of it, and it’s more common sense than anything. Since instant replay is used in pretty much every NFL and Division I college football game, there should be a camera on the goal line. I don’t even understand why there isn’t. I can think of at least two times today where there was a fumble at or near the goal line, but the call on the field, both TD’s, couldn’t really be challeneged or overturned because of a lack of inconclusive evidence. It only seems right to have a camera there, and it pretty much bugs the hell out of me that there aren’t. They could’ve had them long ago, because it would be nice footage even without the replay. I think it’s about time they fixed this stupid mistake.

Rev Run

Posted in Music, TV on September 27th, 2006 by Administrator

IDK how many of you watch Run’s House on MTV, but I do and I love it. Rev is funnier than shit. If you watched last season, you may have seen that his wife, Justine, was pregnant with their 6th child. I didn’t know if that was true or not, but apparently it was. That’s where the good news ends. I just read that shortly after the baby was born, it was pronounced dead. I have never heard of this before, but the baby was supposedly born with organs on the outside of its body. This is too bad because, at least from what you can tell from the show and the media, the Simmons’ seem like they are all good people.

State Senate

Posted in Uncategorized on September 26th, 2006 by Administrator

I just saw an ad for the State Senate that actually caught my attention and made me watch. It didn’t have anything to do with the content, just the candidate. It was Pat Kreitlow. Yes, that Pat Kreitlow. I don’t really watch the news, but I’m assuming he gave that gig up. I just found it rather interesting.

Online Class

My Written Communication class is online, which is nice. Every assignment is due on Wednesday by noon. Today I had a Grammar Final Exam or something like that. All of my other quizzes like that, you could start it and save what you did so you could finish it anytime. Well, about 16-17 minutes before one of my classes started today, I went to start the exam. When I got there, it said I had 1 hour and 10 minutes to finish it, and that I had to do it then. Wonderful. Since I got so long to do it, I looked at how many questions there were. 100. Even better. I proceded to do the best I could, with pretty much no time to mull over any of the answers. I finished in 14 minutes and some change, and finished comfortably above the class average. Note to self: all assignments that are exams should be done the night before.

Some old, some new

I just bought Hostel this weekend, and I think it may have grossed me out more the second time around. I also bought all three TMNT movies. I can’t lie, they were a lot better than I thought they would be. I figured I grew out of them, but I was wrong. And since I just got some new movies, I got to lookin around on IMDb. I already posted about the new Turtles movie, but I made some other finds today.

First off, we have this. There is pretty much no information, but IDC. Just seeing it got me excited.

Next, we have this sequel. This one is probably more anticipated, and will probably even be better. I don’t think it said the date it hits theaters, but in the trailers I’ve seen, it says Halloween 2006. Good choice.

Word Association

All right. I wanna try something new. I’m gonna say a word, then someone else has to write what it makes them think of, i.e. white, snow. However, you can’t make two posts in a row. OK. The word is…Doritos.

Bored

I was supposed to have class at 10 this morning, but I got here, and there are signs posted all over the place that the classes for Karen Kohler are cancelled. Guess what. That’s my instructor. I don’t have class again until 2, so I’m pretty sure I’ll be doing a lot of surfing of the Internet today. I could study for my Spanish quiz, or I could’ve missed the last two weeks of that class and still ace the quiz tonight. Decisions, decisions.

Idlewild

I went to see Idlewild this weekend, the new Outkast movie. I thought it was a pretty good movie. You don’t see too many movies based in the 1930’s, especially not with the sort of modern twist that this one had. There were many unique effects in this movie, even a little strange, but if you know Outkast, then it’s pretty much the norm. “You ain’t sayin nothin slick to a can of oil, bro.”

The album that goes along with the movie is even more unique. They are rappers, but they are also musicians, and the music definitley shows it here. Every song is different. They don’t even have the same feel from one song to another. My favorite songs are Morris Brown, PJ & Rooster, Call The Law and Hollywood Divorce. All in all, both are very creative and entertaining. Hey, don’tchu worry ’bout me.

Football Recap

Posted in Sports on September 6th, 2006 by Administrator

Now that I’ve had time to settle down after my big weekend of football, I’m back. First off, scmach and I went to the final Packers preseason game on Friday. Unfortunately we missed the opening drive, but all in all, it was a good time. They looked alright, but it was mainly our second and third teamers against their first teamers for a lot of the game. I wasn’t overly impressed, except with LB Abdul Hodge and P Jon Ryan. I wasn’t too concerned with the game, though, as it was my first trip to Lambeau Field. I didn’t do a lot of looking around the stadium, but I still got a sense of the history, and it was great to be there. Hopefully I can do it again sometime.

The Badgers played Bowling Green on Saturday, and I’m not gonna lie, I wasn’t impressed. They had their bright spots, i.e. blocking a punt and scoring a TD off of it, and P.J. Hill looked solid, but I was hoping for a little more. Maybe I have too high expectations. Or maybe they have too many TE’s. Who knows for sure?

And finally, my team of all teams, the Miami Hurricanes. They looked horrible on offense for most of their game against Florida State but the defense looked amazing for most of the game as well. I’m not even sure they had the best defense in the game though. Buster Davis for FSU is a name you should remember in the upcoming months. I wasn’t at all pleased with the loss, but the offense had enough shining moments for me to hold out hope for them to make a run at something big this year. I’ll cross my fingers.
