Winter

I was excited the other day when it was raining on my way home. Not because it was raining, but because it wasn’t snowing. I hate winter. Cold is no good. Snow is alright, but it leads to ice, which is useless unless it’s in a beverage or you’re skating on it. Bring on summer.

Oscars

I know the Oscars were a week ago, but I don’t care. I’ve never seen any of the movies that were up for Best Picture, but I’m glad Brokeback Mountain didn’t win. Not because it was about gay cowboys, but because everyone thought it was going to. It’s times like that that make me laugh, and I enjoy a good laugh. And why was it news that they didn’t win? Big deal. It’s not like you can’t like a movie that didn’t win. It probably wasn’t even any good. I think they would have had a better chance if they came up with a different name. I mean, Brokeback Mountain? Not a whole lot of brainstorming went into that selection. At least Three 6 Mafia won. It was nice to see someone excited to win for once. And as Jon Stewart so eloquently put it, it just got a little bit easier to be a pimp. That’s good news too, cause my life was getting to be a little stressful.

NFL: The Offseason

Now that the NFL has finally come to an agreement with the CBA, free agency has begun. I have been quite disappointed up until about 3 minutes ago. Edgerrin James has signed with the Arizona Cardinals. With this signing, the Cardinals might not be horrendous any longer. I mean they probably will, but there’s a good chance they won’t. They already have Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald, easily the best young (if not overall) receiving duo in the NFL. And they have Kurt Warner at QB. Is that good? I don’t know.

Ron Dayne resigned with the Broncos and is apparently going to be the starter this year. Playing for the Broncos, Dayne might appear relevant again after the year is through.

The Packers signed Aaron Kampman to an extension. Thank God. That was my biggest concern about the Packers this year. Oh yeah, not to mention Ryan Longwell joined the list of traitors to leave the Packers to sign with the Vikings. And Brett Favre? Who knows? Who cares? Make a decision already. Retire, then we can trade Rodgers and then draft Leinart. Who needs Ted Thompson?
